Gami Labs heroProduct — Case Study

Gami Labs

Role : Product Designer & UX Lead

Platform : DeFi Web App · Connect Wallet

Gami brings institutional-grade yield to DeFi, curated vaults that allocate capital across vetted protocols, rebalanced and risk-managed on-chain. The brief: make something built for funds and treasuries feel as trustworthy as the institutions using it, without flattening the sophistication underneath. I owned research, IA, flows and the final UI.

01 The Problem

Institutional money wants DeFi yield, without DeFi's operational chaos.

Earning competitive on-chain yield means monitoring and rebalancing across a dozen protocols, each with its own risk surface, while meeting institutional standards for custody and reporting. Allocators told us they wanted the upside of DeFi without running a farming desk, and that trust, not features, stood between them and a deposit.

01

Yield is a full-time job

Competitive returns demand constant rebalancing across lending markets, liquidity engines and structured yield.

02

Risk is hard to price

Smart-contract, counterparty and protocol risk are hard to see, let alone defend, before committing capital.

03

Not built for institutions

Retail-first dApps lacked the custody, governance and reporting an allocator needs to sign off.

02 Research & Insights

I spoke with allocators, fund operators and crypto-native treasuries about what would actually move them from a spreadsheet to a deposit. The pattern was consistent: confidence comes before yield. They'd accept a slightly lower APR for a strategy they could understand and defend to a risk committee.

So the product couldn't lead with numbers, it had to lead with transparency. Where the capital goes, which protocols are vetted (Morpho, Curve, Spectra, StakeDAO), how risk is managed, who custodies the assets. Make that legible and the deposit follows.

"I'm not chasing the highest APR. I'm chasing the highest APR I can explain to my risk committee."

03 Architecture & Flows

I structured the product around the question an allocator asks first, "is this safe, and where does my money go?", then progressive disclosure into strategy detail, protocol exposure and live performance. The flow below maps connect → understand → deposit, with trust signals surfaced at every step.

04 The Solution

A calm vault overview leads with curation and risk discipline, not raw yield. Strategy, protocol exposure and security sit one layer down, never hidden. The system uses a restrained institutional palette, a strict type scale, and a single accent reserved for state and action.

The landing, trust before yield: live TVL, users and vault count above the fold, the vetted protocol roster right beneath.

05 Outcome

A DeFi product an institution could actually sign off on.

The redesign reframed Gami from "another yield dApp" to institutional infrastructure, leading with transparency, custody and risk so the sophistication reads as discipline, not hype. The system also gave the team a documented foundation to launch new vaults without redesigning the flow each time.
