Infinite Canvas

Role : Brand Designer

Project : Brand & Visual Identity

Infinite Canvas is named after the thing every maker actually wants: room that never runs out. The brief was an identity that takes that promise seriously: a system with a fixed centre and no fixed edge, disciplined enough to write down as a guideline, open enough to keep extending itself. Built at the end of 2023, it was also the project where I let motion and 3D into the identity from day one rather than bolting them on after.

FOUNDATION

The name did half the strategy work. A canvas is where work begins; an infinite one refuses to tell you where it ends. So the foundation was written as a single tension: structure at the centre, openness at the edge, and every later decision, from the grid to the motion curves, answers to it.

THE MARK

The mark is a frame that has stopped closing: a canvas shape drawn so its boundary opens rather than seals, holding the name at the centre while the edge implies continuation. It ships as a lockup, a standalone glyph for small sizes, and a construction sheet so the logic survives other hands.

TYPOGRAPHY & COLOR

Type and colour play the same two roles as the mark: one voice for structure, one for space. A workmanlike grotesque runs the system (labels, navigation, guideline text) while the palette keeps a deep field as its base so the brand colours read like marks on a canvas rather than paint over everything.

APPLICATIONS

The guideline closes where identities are actually tested: posters, social templates, stationery and screens, each one the same system meeting a different edge. The applications double as proof of the foundation: the centre never changes, the canvas around it does.

Outcome

An identity with a fixed centre and no fixed edge.

Infinite Canvas shipped as a full guideline: mark, construction, type, colour, motion language and application kit, published at the end of 2023. It marked the point where motion and 3D became part of how I build identities rather than something added after: the system was designed to move from its first sketch, and the guideline hands that behaviour over along with the files.
